#CTC355 CASE Sale-a-bration

Yes, we are back CASEing the Sale-a-bration catalogue this week:

I've turned to Page 10 and the picture top right.

Tuesday sees us celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary so I thought I'd use this challenge to make hubby a card - killing two birds with one stone, so to speak!!

I've used the same DSP as the CASE card - Simply Marbleous and the same colour of Basic Gray. I've used the Birds & More dies to cut my circle shape and behind it I've added a panel of Basic White which was embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.

Again using Birds & More dies, I've cut two little birds in Silver Foil and then using scraps of Daffodil Delight and Real Red another two were cut. I've taken the little cut outs from the colour birds and added them to the silver birds then adhered them in place on the circle frame.

My greeting is from Pansy Patch heat embossed in Silver Embossing Powder onto a strip of Basic Black cardstock. Underneath a little red heart from the same set of dies out of Real Red cardstock.

I love the bold colours on one side of the Simply Marbleous while the other is quite the opposite, very soft so something to appeal to everyone.

Wonder which card you might like to CASE and whether you will change things out or keep it as it is. Remember you don't have to have new products to play along, we just love to see how your creativity puts a twist to the catalogue pictures. Use the link over on the right and add your picture to our Facebook page before next Sunday evening.

Next up we have Kathryn to share some of her fabulous scrapbooking pages from her recent 'big' birthday. Special memories Kathryn!

#CTC303 CASE the Sale-a-bration Catalogue

We're back CASEing the Sale-a-bration catalogue again this week:

I've chosen the image at the top of Page 17:

I've used Smokey Slate cardstock for the base card and the top layer. I've grabbed my Subtles scrap folder and chosen Blushing Bride, Highland Heather, Pool Party, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam for my faux postage stamps. I opted not to CASE the embossing as above and instead used Basic Gray ink and the frame from Punch Party onto all the colours. I then inked another image onto a Post-It note and cut out the inside to make a template for my pictures.

I've stamped the little butterfly in lieu of the hearts in the CASE card onto the layer of Smokey Slate. I've then used my Chalk Pen to colour the image white then I've painted over it with Wink of Stella. I've embossed this piece with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing folder.

I've used the joey images from Kangaroo & Company, One of them is a full image and the other is chopped off but I didn't want to ink outside the frame so I just popped my template on before stamping. The greeting is from the same stamp set. I've punched them all out with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch and adhered the pictured shapes onto the Smokey Slate layer. I've wrapped Whisper White Baker's Twine around this and then added the layer to the base card. The greeting has been adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals and my bow was added to the greeting so it didn't hide one of the faces. I've used some rhinestones to finish off.

It's hard to capture Wink of Stella in a picture, so I'll show another angle:

Even Simba showed a bit more interest than he has been lately

We hope you can play along this week. Take a photo of your project and add it to our Facebook page before next Sunday evening using the link over on the right.

Next up we have the lovely Peta and her stunning floral project:

Social Stamping - Merry & Bright

Joining the Social Stamping monthly blog hop with Kelly Kent and friends again with the theme this month of 'Merry & Bright'!

I've been fortunate enough to get away this week to tutor cardmaking classes and today will share a couple of our makes, which I think fit the theme...

The card on the left is a CASE of my own card, which you can find here. This time I've used Real Red cardstock strips embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. These were added to a piece of retired DSP, onto a mat of Misty Moonlight cardstock then attached to the base of Thick Whisper White. The bow and greeting used the Gift Wrapped stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink onto Whisper White. The bow was then punched out with the Gift Bow Builder punch; the greeting had the left end punched with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch while being trimmed to hide behind the bow at the right hand end. This was added to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. The bling was the Flowers for Every Season Gems.

The card on the right was created with some Stamparatus assistance. I lined up the holly images from Joyful Holly, using the outline stamp with Shaded Spruce ink, and a stamped off image using the block fill image in Shaded Spruce again to colour the leaf. I've then lined up the little gnome from Gnome for the Holidays to hold the holly, using Black Memento ink, and Shaded Spruce for the greeting. The hat is Red Velvet paper using the paper piecing technique - and yes, the holly berries are in this red velvet paper as well. I gave the option to use a 1/8" punch to cut the velvet paper, or the easier option of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Finished off by colouring using Stampin' Blends and adding to a mat of Real Red which was adhered to the base of Thick Whisper White card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next up, we look forward to seeing what Jan has created for the hop:

#CTC290 CASE the Colours of Plaid Tidings DSP

CASE the Colours of Plaid Tidings DSP: Basic Black, Blackberry Bliss, Bumblebee, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Misty Moonlight, Pretty Peacock, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Seaside Spray, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White - that's a lot of colour, but don't worry, you don’t have to use them all!

I've managed to use nine I think. I've diecut using the Well Written Dies, Shaded Spruce leaves, Melon Mambo and Blackberry Bliss flowers, Bumblebee & Pumpkin Pie butterflies and a Misty Moonlight bird. Behind each flower is a tiny square of Bumblebee cardstock. And for the butterflies I've swapped the negative pieces. I've adhered them all to a top layer of Crumb Cake which was embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder and matted onto Whisper White cardstock.

I've used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach this layer to my base card of Mango Melody. The greeting is from Peaceful Moments using Blackberry Bliss ink onto Bumblebee cardstock and punched with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. To help it to pop a little I've used the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch and Whisper White cardstock to pop behind my greeting then adhered it to the top layer. I've added some of the Flowers for Every Season gems and finished by splashing around some Wink of Stella.

As you can see, what I should have been doing was mowing the lawns, but they'll still be there tomorrow! Here's the Wink of Stella picture:

There's such a range of colours to pick from this week, hopefully you'll be inspired to play along. Make your card and post the picture to our Facebook page by next Sunday evening using the link over on the right.

#CI86 - Colour Inkspiration Challenge

I was drawn to the colours for this challenge the first time I saw it posted, and then forgot about it until an entry popped up in my Facebook feed and I was inspired to select these colours to make a card for the man of the house who is having a birthday tomorrow.

He's at home recovering from foot surgery so I thought I'd better make a bit of an effort and ended up CASEing myself. Back in June 2019 I created this card for another challenge - click here.

This time I've used a base of Coastal Cabana cardstock and sponged Pacific Point ink for my water. I've black heat embossed the image and greeting from Best Catch. The top layer is Shaded Spruce, with a Layering Oval diecut from the centre and then embossed with Old World Paper 3D folder. I've black heat embossed the fish hook and coloured with the three colours above in my Stampin' Markers. Next I've diecut the hook and two small fish with the Catch of the Day Dies. I've added the spots from Best Catch to the fish in Pacific Point ink and sponged around the edges before adhering the pieces to the card.

I love the vibrancy of these colours together! Thank you for stopping by and for allowing me to contribute to the challenge.

#CTC286 CASE Annual Catty Project with a Mini Catty Twist

This one will get you thinking - CASE a Project from the Annual Catalogue and Give it a Mini Catalogue (August-December) Twist:

I've chosen this card at the bottom of Page 55:

I've used a base of Misty Moonlight. My panels are stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using the images from Gnome for the Holidays in Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Misty Moonlight. I've diecut each image using the Stitched Rectangles dies and added them to a panel of Shaded Spruce cardstock which had been embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. Behind this I've added some pieces of Red Velvet Paper.

I've popped the whole panel onto the base using Stampin' Dimensionals. Next I've stamped the greeting in Shaded Spruce ink onto Real Red cardstock and trimmed to fit.

We would love to see your take on this challenge. Make your card and post using the link over on the right. Before you go, be sure to carry on with  the hop and visit Lauren:

#CTC283 CASE the Colours of Trimming the Tree DSP

We are CASEing the colours of Trimming the Tree DSP this week - Early Espresso, Misty Moonlight, Old Olive, Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Whisper White

I've used all the colours, but also CASEd the card on the top right of page 12:

I've used a base of thick Whisper White and added a mat of Poppy Parade. I've stamped the holly image from Gift Wrapped in Pool Party ink onto a top layer of Pool Party cardstock. I've trimmed Misty Moonlight cardstock into inch wide stripes and embossed them with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing folder and adhered them to the card. Next I've used Bird & More dies to cut some foliage from Old Olive and added it to the embossed panel.

I've Clear Embossed the bow image by stamping onto Versamark and then into Poppy Parade ink before stamping on Whisper White cardstock, covering the image with Clear Embossing powder and heat setting. I liked the effect so did the same with the greeting from the same set using the Versamark then Early Espresso and clear embossing. The bow has been punched out with the Gift Bow Builder punch and the greeting with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch before adding them both to the card. I've used the clear Flowers for All Seasons gems to finish but in a different way than the CASEd card.

This angle may show the detail better:

You have until next Sunday evening to make a card using any or all of the colours above then adding your photo to our Facebook page using the link over to the right. Meanwhile please carry on the hop to visit Rebecca and her lovely floral card:

#CTC279 CASE the Sketch on Page 72

This is the card we are CASEing this week:

And this is the card translated to a sketch to help you in your planning. We hope you'll play along and post your card to our Facebook page by next Sunday evening using the link over to the right.

I've opted for a monotone card - white on white - except for the greeting. I've used a thick Whisper White cardstock base. I've cut a mat and trimmed it to 1/3 and 2/3, running the small piece through my machine with the Pinewood Planks 3D folder and the larger piece with the Ornate Floral 3D folder. I adhered them to a scrap of cardstock to hold them while I wrapped a piece of Baker's Twine around the card then added it to my base.

Next I used Layering Squares to cut my square and the scalloped background. I embossed the plain square with the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder and glued it to the backing scallop. My greeting is from Zany Zebras and stamped onto Whisper White card then adhered to a piece of black cardstock with had been diecut using one of the Ornate Borders dies. This was then popped under the scallop and the whole section was added using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I've used Poppy Moments dies to cut the poppy background from Vellum cardstock and the outline and stamens from Whisper White before adhering them all together (just in the centre), and gluing to the embossed square. I've added a Baker's Twine bow to finish.

Please continue on the hop to Shannon's adorable card:

#CTC278 CASE your Favourite 2020-21 Annual Catty Project

Pretty much open book this week from the annual catalogue!

For me - the Peonies have been calling and I stopped at page 82 top left...

After I chose my card, I wanted to swap the colours out, inspired by peonies that I grow in my garden, although they are only just thinking about appearing, I hope they don't get too excited until the frost danger has passed.

I started by die cutting the pieces for the peony flower and leaves from Whisper White using the.Peony dies. I then used So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo in that order to wash colour onto the pieces for the flower without going over them too much or being too fussy. While they were still a little damp I popped them into the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder and used a bit of tissue over the top to help absorb any moisture before running them through my embossing machine. Instant texture! (I used this once before, but did have to be careful as without misting the feature layer can tear easily)

I then coloured the leaf pieces in the same way with my Old Olive ink pad and when dry adhered them in order. Then I placed them behind the flower and glued them in place.

I've used So Saffron cardstock as a base card and stamped off the large peony flower from the Prized Peony stamp set with Gray Granite ink around the card as per the original CASE card. I've cut a piece of Peony Garden DSP but reversed the colours from the CASE. I chose one with a lot of white in the background. Next I cut a piece of Gray Granite cardstock with the Painted Labels dies. It was smaller than I wanted, so I had to bring in the trick of cutting over the edge of the board and then realigning for the other side, a little bit of fuss for a shape that suited me.

I've heat embossed the birthday greeting from Peaceful Moments onto Old Olive cardstock with White embossing powder and trimmed it to fit the width of my DSP. I've also diecut an edging from Gray Granite using the Peony dies border and adhered behind the bottom of the greeting.

The texture is hard to capture by photo however, after placing the flower, leaves and greeting on Stampin' Dimensionals - you will have to trust me, it's there!.

Here's my inspo... I grow other colours, but these were the closest.

Love to see your favourite project from the catalogue, feel free to add it to our Facebook page using the link over on the right. Meanwhile, please visit Judy to see what I'm sure will be another fabulous creation!

#CTC276 CASEing the Animals from the Catalogue

How are you going the interpret the challenge this week? Lots of animals in the annual catalogue for you to CASE or put your own twist on. The crew would love to see you play along after you create your card, post it to our Facebook page using the link over on the right.

I've turned to page 41 and the Playful Pets suite for my inspiration:

The Playful Pets DSP and Pampered Pets stamp set has some very quirky little characters - each with relatable personality traits!

I've used a base of thick Whisper White. Onto that I've added a layer of Basic Black . A strip of Playful Pets DSP is adhered to the left hand side. The right hand side has a piece of cardstock, Basic Gray for the cat and Sahara Sand for the dog which was embossed with the Old World Paper embossing folder. The greeting is from Pampered Pets, stamped in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and diecut with a Stitched Rectangles die.

The dog was stamped in Memento black ink onto Basic Gray cardstock and diecut using the Pets Dies. I've used the same dies to cut the paws out of the (retired) Hearts Doilies and added a scrap of Basic Black behind to make the paws pop. Shame the doilies retired as being in Real Red and Flirty Flamingo I'm sure they were meant to remain with this suite. The dog's collar has been coloured with my Chalk Marker and a tiny dot onto his eyes.

The cat was stamped in Memento black ink onto Sahara Sand and diecut with the Pets Dies.

Time for you to hop over and see the cute card our friend Peta has created with the same suite. I had a feeling she might be won over with the cats, but with two dogs and two cats, I have to remain with a boot in both do and cat camp - one of the few people who can't decide. Love them both (although they do have their moments)!!
