#CTC232 Artistic Expressions

Welcome to the new catalogue! This week the crew are CASEing from the Artistic Expressions section from pages 106-159

No photo description available.

I've chosen the shaker card on the bottom of page 114, and CASEd the layout:

I started off with a piece of Pool Party DSP, and worked out where the oval would be placed and traced it loosely with a pencil. I've sponged the lower half with Balmy Blue and the top left with So Saffron and a tiny bit of Pumpkin Pie. I've stamped the fisherman from Best Catch with Basic Gray, and used the same ink for the greeting from Perennial Birthday.

I used a piece of Basic Gray cardstock for my top layer and embossed it with the Subtle 3D EF before adhering to the stamped piece. I've used dimensionals to add all this to my base card.  I've stamped and die cut a fish hook (Catch of the Day dies) then coloured with Stampin' Blends and glued to the bottom corner. The fish are diecut from a scrap of Blushing Bride, sponged a little with Balmy Blue and then had the markings stamped with Basic Gray.

For my little fish I masked off some of the spots before inking. Fun bringing my love of cardmaking together with my husband's love of fishing, so off to his box of pretties for my photo.

If you would like to join the challenge this week, simply make your card and tell us which photo you've used from the pages listed above, take a photo and add it to our Facebook page using the link over to the right. Before you go, please continue on the hop by visiting Monique:

#CTC230 Favourite Retiring Big Shot Project

Plenty of choice this week as the crew go to their Favourite Retiring Big Shot Project

Image may contain: text

I've given some love to my Swirly Snowflakes thinlits as they haven't been used in a while, choosing the card in the picture on page 100 - top left

I've used the swirly flourish die from this set and randomly die cut a card from Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card pack. What I forgot about when I chose this die was that the whole middle piece drops out, but thankfully the Press and Seal came to the rescue and made it easy to line everything up. I've popped the card and all the loose pieces onto Stampin' Dimensionals and placed on a thick Whisper White card.

The greeting is from Perennial Birthday, stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and cut out with the Rectangle Stitched framelits. I've adhered some Silver Mini Sequin Trim and a couple of Silver Foil swirls behind the greeting and also popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Using the Memories and More card made the top layer just a bit sturdier

What's your favourite retiring Big Shot item? Why not use it to make a project and paste to our Facebook page before next Sunday evening? Just use the link over on the right.

Time now to head over to our lovely Kelly's page and see what she's been up to:

#CTC207 - Case Anything But a Card

Had me thinking this week, but I chose to stick with the Holiday Catalogue, even though you can case from either catalogue...

I've chosen the pizza box in the picture on page 34, top left:

I wonder if I got the brief wrong when I look at some of the crew pics - amazing!!  However, I needed a birthday card for Miss B, so went with it... I chose to rotate the orientation by -90 degrees and made use of the Daisy Delight stamp set and matching punch instead of the bows. I've used Stampin' Blends to colour the images and also to colour the Clear faceted gems. My base card is thick Whisper White, with a mat of Tranquil Tide and a top layer of the stunning Frosted Floral Specialty DSP.  Perennial Birthday greeting stamped in Tranquil Tide and punched using the Everyday Label punch then layered onto a rectangle of Tranquil Tide. All finished off with a Whisper White Baker's Twine bow. You can't tell but there was a little extra bling added by using my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to trace around some of the lines on the daisy petals.

Might be more clear in this one:

Happy Birthday Brianna!! Thanks for stopping by, please play along using the link to the right, and now hop over and see what Monique has created for the brief this week:

#CTC193 - Graceful Glass

Join the design crew this week as we CASE from pages 164-179 (add your creation to our Facebook page with the link over on the right).

The card on page 171 caught my attention and I although I didn't have that stamp, liked the arrangement of the apples, so will be casing the layout:

I've chosen the flower stamp from Oh So Eclectic for the similar distorted colouring as the apples. I've then layered the matching die cut from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits over each of the flowers - my colour choice being Grapefruit Grove, Gorgeous Grape and Mint Macaron. I used the Early Espresso that the apple top was stamped with as the colour for the centre of my flowers, there is a die that cuts that shape perfectly to pop under the top layer of the flower and I carried that colour through for a more striking background mat which I layered onto a thick Whisper White base. The top layer was embossed using the 3D Dynamic Hexagons TIEF. The greeting is from Perennial Birthday and stamped in Mint Macaron, die cut with Layered Circles matted with an Early Espresso scallop from the same die set. All elements have been added to the card with dimensionals. (I would have liked the circle to be just a little smaller but felt it was going to be too close to the greeting, so it is as it is)

Funny enough, as I was writing my post it reminded me of another card I'd made. When I looked it up, it was my very first time joining the amazing ladies on the design crew - and it used a similar layout as well as these co-ordinating stamp and dies - here

That's it from me - now let's head over and check out Judy's inspiration:

CASEing the Catty - #CTC164 Occasion Kits

This week we are looking at Occasion Kits from pages 15-17 for CASEing the Catty

I have selected the image at the bottom of page 17, along with keeping my promise of showing more of the Brusho and You're Inspiring play day:

Pretty much used the ideas but as you can see switched out elements or swapped orientation, sticking mainly to the colours of Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.

Starting at the left side - and using Brusho Crystal Colour.  The image was stamped using Basic Black archival ink and left to dry. I then spritzed both side of the paper to help it stay flat and tapped the Yellow along the top of the daffodils, Moss Green along the leaf end and let the colour bleed. I added Prussian Blue along the top as if it was sky and then just kept adding colour, spritzing or blotting with a tissue until I achieved the desired effect. When completely dry I trimmed and sliced the coloured piece and attached to the Soft Sky mat, greeting from You're Inspiring and Baker's Twine wrapped and tied off. The background mount has been stamped with the daffodil on the left coloured with a marker each time and stamped onto the Daffodil Delight mat. All cards shown are set onto a thick Whisper White card base.

Next card had the image as above, and then I coloured roughly using Stampin' markers, Garden Green stems and Daffodil Delight flower heads. I then spritzed and let the colour bleed and waited for it to dry.  When dry it was quite a soft colour so I simply repeated the same process and this is the end result.  The Soft Sky mat was stamped in the same colour ink with the image from You're Inspiring. Greeting from Perennial Birthday. The ribbon is that lovely organza again, this time coloured with the Daffodil Delight Light Stampin' Blend.

And finally, I think this is my favourite! The image is actually stamped in Garden Green and I like how it makes the image less harsh (the same reason I chose not to add the black greeting as per the Case). I coloured with my aqua brush, again Garden Green leaves and Daffodil Delight/Crushed Curry flower heads. I then created a mask and used the same greeting as above with Soft Sky ink to randomly stamp over the image - love how it turned out and will definitely use this idea again. Mounted onto Soft Sky - I think with the right words this would also make a suitable Sympathy card.

Thanks for stopping by and please hop over and visit Megan, then join in and add your card using the link over on the right.
