#CTC230 Favourite Retiring Big Shot Project

Plenty of choice this week as the crew go to their Favourite Retiring Big Shot Project



I've given some love to my Swirly Snowflakes thinlits as they haven't been used in a while, choosing the card in the picture on page 100 - top left

I've used the swirly flourish die from this set and randomly die cut a card from Delightfully Detailed Memories & More Card pack. What I forgot about when I chose this die was that the whole middle piece drops out, but thankfully the Press and Seal came to the rescue and made it easy to line everything up. I've popped the card and all the loose pieces onto Stampin' Dimensionals and placed on a thick Whisper White card. 

The greeting is from Perennial Birthday, stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and cut out with the Rectangle Stitched framelits. I've adhered some Silver Mini Sequin Trim and a couple of Silver Foil swirls behind the greeting and also popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Using the Memories and More card made the top layer just a bit sturdier

CASEing the Catty - #CTC153 Holiday Catalogue Tag

This week we had to find a tag to case in the holiday catalogue

There are a lot to choose from, but in the end I settled with the tag on page 54

However as you can see, I chose to turn it into a card and change things a little.  

I started with Very Vanilla thick cardstock for the base.  I then used the thin Very Vanilla for the front and die cut each end with the smaller die from Detailed Floral Thinlits. The vellum layer on top was stamped with the flowers from Wood Words in Old Olive.  The fussy cut flowers are from Remarkable You and coloured using the new Stampin' Blends, Pink Pirouette and Old Olive with a touch of So Saffron marker for the stamen.  

Greeting is from Butterfly Basics and cut with Stitched Shapes framelit. To give depth of colour to the butterfly from the same set, I used Blushing Bride as Pink Piroutte was just a little soft on the very vanilla. Sad if you didn't get to purchase the butterfly punch before it retired, but you could just fussy cut this little fella. The trim is Gold Natural Trim, Gold Mini Sequin Trim and a Very Vanilla Baker's Twine bow.

CASEing the Catty - #CTC151 Catalogue Covers

Hi again - the brief this week is actually Catalogue Covers and Hostess Sets, but I went with short and sweet for my post title.

I've chosen to Case the Holiday catalogue - front cover - top right card:

And as you can see, I've swapped out the theme in a big way. I thought I'd use some DSP to highlight the great promotion that is on until the end of the month - buy 3 get 1 free (selected DSP).  I don't think the catalogue gives the Petal Garden DSP enough credit. I've used the layout above, and taken the sheet with the roses in the corner, trimmed to my card width and approx 4 1/2". I then flipped the DSP over and cut 2 strips around about an inch high and trimmed to the card width. Whisper white scallops from the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, (have always loved those cheeky scallops peeking out when anybody uses them!). Instead of the oval, I used the Everyday Jars Framelits for my window shape. I chose to leave my butterflies flying free and stamped a little grass towards the bottom of the jar. 

The butterflies are coloured using the soon to be available Stampin' Blends. I had the Blendabilities and was really liking them, however too many issues meant they were pulled from the market, and a great deal of research has gone into fixing the problem. Demonstrators got to purchase them at the start of the month and the release date to customers has just been announced as 1 November!

The greeting and butterflies are from the Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set - Sharing Sweet Thoughts (inside the back cover of the main catalogue). For every set sold, Stampin' Up! donates $3 AUD/$3.50 NZD to RMHC. Great work SU!! To trim the greeting, I've used Gold Metallic- Edge Ribbon and Gold Mini Sequin trim - along with a tiny scrap of doily.

CASEing the Catty - #CTC149 Year of Cheer

Wowee, you guys are in for a treat this week. The Year of Cheer brings us lots of reason to celebrate and adds a touch of elegance - I think you'll agree...

My project's been inspired from the bottom picture on page 36.  

Not having that embossing folder, I've switched that for one of the Foil Snowflakes, they come in a pack of 24, 12 each of gold and silver. I've also steered away from the copper focus and gone just with silver against white, an old favourite for a special card. I've used a circle of Silver Foil, with a circle of Year of Cheer Specialty DSP, and taken the greeting from Butterfly Basics and embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder before cutting with the Stitched Shapes framelit. Layered behind that is the Silver Mini Sequin Trim, and I've popped the greeting up with dimensionals. I've also used the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi tape at the top and bottom of my card. This is an A4 sheet cut lengthways, so it opens up rather than out. Yet again, I fell into the - "remember how hard that is to photograph situation" when using Silver, so I hope you can see past the bad photography to the shine.

I obviously had too much time on my hands this week, and remembered seeing the idea of sponging the reverse side of the snowflake. Thought I'd have a go with Lemon Lime Twist and give some suggestions for things you don't have. No washi? Try using DSP (Fresh Florals DSP stack in this case). No Specialty DSP? - how about embossing a piece of cardstock with the Layered Leaves 3D TIEF. And in place of the mini sequin trim, silver 1/8" ribbon.  I finished off with the Metallics Sequin assortment, love how they come in different sizes - greeting from Best Birds.
