#CTC271 CASE the New Catalogue Cover

Just one week of CASEing the new Catalogue Cover with the crew - hope you can play along, add your photo with the link over on the right. For Week 2 - we get to go inside the covers!!

Today I'm using the new bundle of Birds & Branches stamp set and Birds & More dies which you will find on page 120.

My inspiration has been the colour palette and I don't know if it has been written anywhere, but what I've guessed is: Balmy Blue, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Bumblebee, Coastal Cabana and Rich Razzleberry. 

I stamped onto Whisper White scraps of card; a bird and eggs in Balmy Blue, another bird in Coastal Cabana, flowers in Blushing Bride, onto Bumblee cardstock a nest in Rich Razzleberry and diecut all out along with a tree branch in Bermuda Bay.

The greeting is from the retiring Stitched All Round in Coastal Cabana ink.

I've simply adhered all my pieces with multi purpose adhesive and matted with Blushing Bride onto a base of thick Whisper White.

I love the idea of limiting yourself to a set colour palette of ink and cardstock and seeing what comes out of it!

Social Stamping - Animals

A little late to the Social Stamping Blog Hops being hosted by the lovely Kelly Kent, but managed to get there eventually. Kelly was inspired to get a group of stamping friends together to craft and share their ideas each week as a welcome distraction to the worry and uncertainty happening around the world at this time. This was also a way to help fill the void when classes couldn't be held and social distancing was common place.

This week's theme is 'Animals'. That's right up my alley with 2 dogs and 2 cats residing with us. Our pets, like many others, have enjoyed the extra human company and adjusted easily to seeing us - especially the dogs. The downside is they get a little more stressed when they need to be left but I don't think we have that problem on our own.

Today I've gone with the retiring Animal Outing stamp set and Animal Friends dies. This set always reminds me of my Australian Stampng friends, so I felt it fitting to dust them off for today's hop.

Kenny couldn't help checking out what I was up to when I headed outdoors for the photo.

My base card is thick Very Vanilla cardstock. The top layer is Old Olive embossed with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing folder. I spritzed the card first and it really holds the texture well, I've wrapped linen thread around the top and adhered this to a mat of Smokey Slate. 

The greeting is from Stitched All Round and I'll be sorry to see it leave.It's been inked with the Black Memento stamp pad onto Very Vanilla cardstock and I've used a Painted Labels die for the shape. The images are stamped with Black Stazon onto watercolour paper and coloured by swiping an ink pad or marker onto a non porous surface and picking it up with an aqua painter. 

I've worked out where I wanted everything to sit and stuck them all down with multi purpose liquid glue, tying a bow around the linen thread to finish.

#CTC241 CASE a Layout on Page 101

CASE any of these layouts on page 101:

For me, I was drawn to the Woodgrain background card on the bottom left.

I've used a base card of Smokey Slate, which has had the small image from  Daisy Lane stamped in Blueberry Bushel randomly. From Noble Peacock Specialty DSP (this is just stunning!! but hard to show how much in a photograph), I've diecut several of the Stitched Nested Labels and with some assistance from Press n Seal, I've lined them all up and attached to a piece of Smokey Slate with multipurpose liquid glue so I could still wiggle it a little into place as needed. When I was happy with the placement I trimmed the edges and matted this onto a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and then onto the base using Stampin' Dimensionals.  

I've used a larger sized Stitched Nested Labels die and cut one from Whisper White and one from vellum, recutting the white piece with the same die to give a straight edge at the top and leaving the same stitching. The greeting added is from Stitched All Round and again uses Blueberry Bushel ink. I've trimmed the vellum and turned so the straight edge lined up with the straight edge of my white piece, and adhered it to the back.  

The piece of crinkled seam binding ribbon gave me the idea for some texture in my leaves. I've punched them with the Leaf punch from Garden Green cardstock. I then spritzed them with water and squished them into a ball. They were then carefully unfolded and left to dry. The cardstock soaks up the water and makes them a bit thicker but when dry very stiff and hold their shape. 

My daisy is the star of the show and the Baker's Twine ribbon finishes the CASE.

I've used the Medium Daisy punch with the matching image from Daisy Lane. I have sponged colour to the centre instead of the whole image and repeated this four times. If you look closely you will see a little notch at the end of each petal, I've just popped the very tip of the petal back into the punch, punched then repeated for every petal. The edges were sponged gently at the edges as well. For the gardeners among you, this reminded me very much of an Osteospermum and I seem to recalling one that was blue.
