Social Stamping - Travel

This week the theme for Kelly Kent's Social Stamping Covid Blog Hop is Travel.

To travel - or not to travel? We didn't really have a choice did we? Lockdown in NZ Level 4 meant staying where we were on the night of lockdown until we were elevated to Level 3. Any travel was for meant to be for essential purposes only - going to work, the supermarket or a medical visit.

Now that we are in Level 1 we are pretty much free to travel anywhere in New Zealand and as I mentioned last week, that means I'll be taking one of our bubble back to resume her University life. We will go via Cromwell, one of our favourite places to holiday in Central Otago. We usually experience very hot summers and very cold winters, but there's the odd exception.

With that in mind I've used the Waterfront stamp set and loosely translated a summer scene we often reflect on - the waters of Lake Dunstan, the burnt hill tops and the wilding pine trees. I've only used this stamp set recently for the greeting so I was surprised how quickly the scene was created - super simple stamping!

Balmy Blue for the water; So Saffron for the beach; stamped off Cinnamon Cider for the hills; Just Jade for the trees and Crushed Curry for the sun.

I've cut a background of Crushed Curry cardstock and stamped the greeting in Just Jade before embossing it with the new Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and adhering to my thick Whisper White base. To finish I've used a few of the also new Flowers for Every Season Gems.

The greeting is appropriate as well - holidays here usually involve, friends, family and good times!

Thanks for stopping by. If you get lost along the way. Click here to go back to the main post and a list of all the participants. Next up you'll find my CASEing friend, Michelle:

  5. A great card Sandra. Love your scene and your reflections that inspired it. Must admit, I think I've been a bit intimidated with this stamp set and haven't used it yet. you have inspired me to get it out and give it a go. So glad life in NZ is getting back to some form of normality - it would have been hard going for all of you. x
