#CTC231 CASE Anything

There's never been a better time for you to play along - the crew have an open slate this week - CASE Anything! Use the link over on the right to pop your photo on our page - it's that simple.

I've chosen to CASE the layout on page 120...

...and make it into a scrapbook page! I have quite a large pile of photos waiting to be scrapped, so I'm feeling a little smug that I've finally made a start with this page. 

I love to use more than one photo in my page so I think CASEing some more of these full page layouts will work well for me. I like capturing different expressions and energy, so have added as many as I could, with less emphasis on the embellishments. I've changed a few elements of the CASEd page, but you get the idea. My base was Fresh Fig cardstock. I've punched Wood Textures DSP with the Tailored Tag punch and adhered them where the palm leaf is in the photo.

In place of the orchids in the layout above, I've gone with the magnolias everyone is loving from the new catalogue. I've fussy cut the Magnolia Lane DSP and placed them where they wouldn't interfere with the photos. My greeting is diecut with Well Written dies. You're probably thinking you don't remember seeing those words - and that would be correct. I've die cut a few words from Whisper White cardstock, then selected the letters I wanted and joined them back up again. To help hide the joins, I've used the Inlaid Embossing technique - where you stick your greeting to your cardstock (good old Press and Seal to help line it all up) and then run the whole piece through your Big Shot in an embossing folder, I've used my Subtle folder here. The same colours were used for matting the photos - Blushing Bride and Garden Green.

I love the concentration - pretty sure the task put her off gardening though, can't say I've seen her out there watering too often since!

#CTC224 - Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project

This Case usually has me going back and forth through the catalogue, but  you know it's going to be the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits for me! My inspiration being the card on the bottom right of page 13 (want to know a secret? these little cuties will appear in the new catalogue!! - be warned as they won't be a bundle, see your demonstrator now if you want to save some $$)...

As you may have noticed, it's a while since I've shown any scrapbooking. A lot of messy fun was had with this layout.  I started with a base of Petal Pink (12" x 12") from the Floral Romance cardstock pack and attached a sheet of Whisper White which was trimmed to 10 1/2" square.

For my top layer, I used a sheet of Watercolour Paper (sorry not SU as I needed a bigger piece). Tip of the day - after diecutting your butterflies, keep the discard or negative, in this case I've used two and held them in placed with a little washi on the watercolour paper. I've used Berry Bliss ink and water to colour inside the negative, where the mix was a little watery, it ran under the edges a bit, but it didn't matter. Some parts were more ink intense than others which also didn't matter. After this had dried a bit, I added a mix of Granny Apple Green and water - using a pipette and a water brush I've covered most of the remainder of the blank paper. Try not to let it the colours mix too much as it has a tendency to turn a muddy colour. Where it needs it, spritz with water to dilute.   This is what I ended up with:

Yeah Nah??  Ok, I agree - it is not too pretty, but read on. After it was dry I used the large bubbles image from Beauty Abounds with Granny Apple Green to add a little more depth to the background. I've trimmed that sheet to approx 9 `/1" square. Using Whisper White, I cut two top layer butterflies (the one with more detail), and 1 of the 2nd layer butterflies (more solid).  I've placed the detailed diecuts over the Berry Bliss areas and just used the multipurpose liquid glue to hold in place. The more solid image was trimmed to separate the butterflies, then Berry Bliss ink was added randomly then spritzed and left to dry. My photo was matted with Basic Black to replicate the CASE and is in lieu of the greeting. I used a Memories and More journalling card for my record keeping and tucked it under the photo then popped the extra butterflies in place when they were dry.

I've just returned from attending the Onstage Live event in Auckland which saw many of the team getting to meet or reconnect, fabulous to be making memories, although we did miss those who were unable to make it - you were definitely in our thoughts!! #CTC178 - Favourite Annual Catalogue Project 2017/18

Another hard one to choose this week with Favourite 2017-18 Annual Catalogue Project.

In an effort to gear up for a Scrapbook Retreat I am attending next weekend, I have chosen  the layout on page 37, bottom right

Of course, I didn't simply CASE it as I see it, but that's mainly because I don't have those items in my possession. I switched out the Crumb Cake base for Blushing Bride, the Best Badge Punch for the sadly retiring Butterflies Thinlits and Bold Butterfly Framelits, and the One Wild Ride set for Butterfly Basics, both of which are retiring. The black and white elements are from the Petal Passion Memories and More Card Pack The cut up words are from Butterfly Basics and the ink used for all the stamping/sponging was Soft Suede. The photo is the mini me - she's the stepped up version lol, and yes surprisingly I do have permission to use this! She was a little concerned at what I was referring to with the caterpillar/butterfly quote, but I assured her it wasn't an ugly baby thing. To make up for it I tried a little harder with the banner which I used from Seasonal Bells, I blanked out the middle then added the words from Jar of Love - You Light Up My Life - most appropriate as she certainly does, and today is Mother's Day.
