#CTC227 Favourite Retiring Bundle

Well this is a sad day - facing up to having to say Goodbye to our favourite bundle

Image may contain: text

You probably don't need any reminding of how much I love this bundle on page 135. Just because it's retiring though, doesn't mean it's leaving my craft room any time soon!

I decided it was time to get on board the Floating Frame technique that has been trending of late. I had a rough idea of how it should work but to be sure I was on the right path watched the Floating Die Cut Frame video by Jennifer McGuire on YouTube. Even better, I didn't need to rush out and buy the Glad Press 'n Seal, as it has been sitting in my craft room since I used to use it piecing the retired Rose thinlits pieces back together.

I diecut Whisper White hydrangea flower 'blanks' from the Foliage Frame Framelits and used my Stamparatus to line them up in a negative and stamp the Floral Frames image with Memento Black ink. I used my Pacific Point marker and scribbled ink onto a palette, then picked it up with my Aqua brush to do my colouring. I also diecut some of the larger leaves from the Foliage Frames using Tranquil Tide cardstock.

I created the layout and picked it up with my piece of Press 'n Seal, laid it on a piece of cardstock the same size as my card and diecut a Stitched Rectangle shape from the centre of the 'frame'.  After removing the centre and piece of backing card, you lay the whole lot face down and go through the process of adding mini Stampin' Dimensionals to each piece! (Tip: the bigger the images you use, the less time you'll spend here #askmehowiknow).

I have used the greeting from Picture Perfect Birthday (also retiring soon) and stamped it in Memento Black ink on the centre of my Lemon Lime Twist card.  Next tip: Use the Stamparatus and slide the Press 'n Seal with the uncovered dimensionals carefully into the top corner - because your card is the same size, it's the perfect way to get everything lined up without worrying if you're straight. Pop your card into the corner and gently lower -  job done!

After I started to remove the Press 'n Seal, I remembered reading people discuss the care needed as you may rip the surface of your inked images. I didn't get as far as learning any solutions but did remember that heat gun was useful for removing tape. I gave the top a bit of a blast with my heat gun, and stopped when it started to shrivel - it came away a lot easier.

Definitely won't be the last time I use this technique. So pleased with how it turned out and the greeting really suited the brilliance of the blue hydrangea against the Lemon Lime Twist. A fitting tribute to my favourite retiring bundle.

The crew would love it if you would play along as well. Make a card by next Sunday evening and post to our Facebook page with the link on the right including "#CTC227" so we can find it. For now, please hop to the delightful Kelly's creation:

#CTC226 CASE a Layout

This week the crew are CASEing any layout from the Occasions Catalogue.

No photo description available.

I've chosen the image top right of page 38

I have a base of Thick Whisper White  layered with a mat of Whisper White embossed with the Country Floral 3D TIEF. The 3 panels of DSP are a sneak peek of Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP all On Stage attendees received.

I have broken the fibres on a scrap of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and separated it to use the inside for some fluffy texture. The greeting from Better With You stamped in Sahara Sand, trimmed and adhered to that piece. The bird from the same set has been stamped with Sahara Sand and coloured with Stampin' Blends then fussy cut. Foliage Frame Framelits will be sadly missed by me #getthemwhileyoucan, and were used for the white and pumpkin diecut elements. All these were popped onto a trimmed BlackBerry Bliss diecut from Springtime Impressions and raised with Stampin' Dimensionals. My final case was the three butterflies with mine coming from the Butterfly Beauty dies which will carryover (yay!) using BlackBerry Bliss cardstock

Time to hop over and check out what the lovely Judy has for us this week:

#CTC206 - Case a Holiday Catalogue Colour Combo

Bit of a change this week and we are CASEing a Colour Combo from anywhere in the Holiday catalogue:

I've chosen from the All is Bright Suite of colours on pages 4-8:

Actually I have to confess, this was my go to colour choice after becoming a little time poor. I took part in an ATC swap recently and the colours were this brief as well.  I've pretty much 'up-sized' my original. The colours are Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White and Gold foil.

The base is Real Red, with a sheet of Whisper White embossed with Tufted 3D TIEF. I have cut Gold Foil and Real Red accents with the Foliage Frame Framelits. The Shaded Spruce was diecut from the same Framelits and placed over the longer gold leaves with the remaining leaves then being adhered. The top layer was of Whisper White was Gold heat embossed with an image from Making Christmas Bright and die cut with the Layered Circles framelits. The image from Half Full is stamped in Real Red and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

From a different angle:

And the original ATC:

Love to see your take of a colour combo from the holiday catalogue, create a card and add the photo to our Facebook page with the link over on the right.  Let's now check out what Judy has for us:

#CTC186 - Birthday

Hello again, here we are CASEing the Birthday section, pages 66-79

I happened to have been playing with the Best Bunny bundle on page 36 recently, and had a little fellow just waiting for a card to hop onto. I found it on page 77:

I went with a card base of Blackberry Bliss (loved this colour when it was last here and pleased to welcome it back!). The Detailed Floral thinlits provided the cutouts of my Whisper white layer, which I've wrapped with Silver Baker's Twine adding a bow, and popped onto the base with Stampin' Dimensionals. In lieu of a scalloped circle, I've used a Mint Macaroon shape cut from the Foliage Frame framelits. I've cut a Whisper White circle with the Layering Circles framelits, and used Pineapple Punch to sponge the colour behind my featured Best Bunny. This is a co-ordinating Punch and stamp set, and he has 3 delightful expressions to choose from. I've stamped this guy in Gray Granite and used the (retired) Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blends to colour with.  The greeting is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and comes from the set Happy Birthday Gorgeous, with a little banner punched at each end.  A few iridescent sequins to finish.

Hope you feel inspired to play along and post using the link over on the right. Meanwhile, please pop in and see what Rachel has created for us this week:
