#CTC191 - Nature's Poem

Check out pages 142-153 for this week's challenge, then play along with the link on the right

I had reason to be creating a special card for my aunty this week, using the challenge to get me started. The person in mind enjoys travelling which led me to the card on the right of page 146:

A bit of pondering about which fancy fold to make ended up becoming a Joy Fold card. I started with a sheet of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and because she is an avid gardener, I knew I wanted to use Petal Promenade DSP. Although this colour isn't listed as a co-ordinating colour, I think it worked with the design I chose. I matted each layer with Mossy Meadow to give it a bit more appeal. The finished size of the card is 6" square. I have also used one of the smaller designs from Petal Promenade with the olive branch wreath as the background for my Gold foil and Rich Razzleberry (retired) large numbers. I didn't want a lot of bling but the foil tied in with the gold heat embossing I used for all the images on Whisper White cardstock.

Now you can see where the CASE card came in! As you open the top layer, the two scenes meet your eye. I chose not to add any colour to them as I liked how the gold made them pop anyway

As you open again, the greeting appears, a Berry Burst die cut Happy Birthday, along with a third image from Mediterranean Moments. Also appropriate because she likes cats! I've intentionally lowed this image as my personal greeting will be added to this page.

I'll pop the measurements further below if you are interested in making a card this size yourself. Time for you to pop over and see what Megan has designed for the hop:

Measurements used:
Rich Razzleberry: a) 10" x 6" scored at 4" mark; b) 8" x 3 3/4" scored at 4" mark
Mossy Meadow: a) 5 3/4" x 5 3/4"; b) 2 x 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" c) 3 x 3 3/4" x 3 1/2"
Whisper White: a) 2 x 5 1/2" x 3 1/2"; b) 2 x 3 1/2" x 3 1/4"
DSP: a) 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"; b) 3 1/2" x 3 1/4"

I did use a magnet on the front (which caused a few problems because it was a little small for all my layers so I had to rejig and in the end it was popped under the two scene images!) You wouldn't need a magnet if you made a smaller top card and used a dimensional embellishment to tuck the top layer under. If you search for Joy Fold cards you'll get the idea.

#CTC189 - Love, Thanks and Support

Back from a little break away and CASEing pages 104-125 - Love, Thanks and Support

You know I love winged 'things', so it wasn't too hard for me to zoom to the bottom right picture on page 125:

How cute is that little bee in the Bee Thankful stamp? Have you thought about pairing him up with some of the amazing DSP's on special this month?  Initially, I used my possible favourite 12" x 12" - Petal Promenade - seriously an inch top and bottom was the max required, a strip of Old Olive cardstock to co-ordinate with the Stampin' Blends used. I then chose Calypso Coral for the word and Daffodil Delight for Mr Bee... all based on a Thick Whisper White card base.

I created another with the same colour Stampin' Blends as above except I switched out Calypso Coral for Night of Navy.  I punched the edge from Night of Navy cardstock with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch.

And my final card was using the Share What You Love Specialty DSP, again an inch top and bottom of DSP - so it goes a looong way! Pool Party for the letter colouring...

Back to the blog hop and let's check out what Rebecca has created with some of the same DSP I am loving ... feel free to play along, link up over on the right

#CTC184 - Delightfully Detailed

This week sees us CASEing a project from pages 38-51.

I've used the image in the top right of the photo on the left hand side of page 48:

Again I've CASEd the layout. Aren't those little critters cute? Unfortunately they don't relate to anything in our country, so in the meantime I'll admire what everyone else creates with them.

I've gone back to my cute Granny image from You've Got Style in place of the critter. She's been coloured with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut. I've switched the DSP and embossed pieces around, to make the most of the beautiful Petal Promenade DSP. The card base is Mossy Meadow and the embossed section is Blushing Bride using the Basket Weave TIEF. The two largest Stitched Shapes circles were used to cut the frame in Calypso Coral. I've added a piece of retired Lemon Lime Twist mini striped ribbon and the greeting is from Painted Glass inked in Mossy Meadow.

The lady looks like she is off to celebrate at a garden party - least she'll be warm! What's a party without a little bling, not sure if you can see it, but I've broken out the Wink of Stella for the drink and jewellery:

Don't forget to play along, using the link over on the right sidebar. Let's now visit the lovely Rebecca and find out what she's created for us this week:
