You'll find a good picture of the DSP on page 74 - you can choose as many of the colours as you would like to use:
In case you can't read the colours clearly on the picture, they are: Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, Rococo Rose, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla.
Believe it or not, I managed to use them all! I've used a base card of Very Vanilla, with a mat of Merry Merlot and a top layer of Very Vanilla. I've stamped the cute little impish image from New Wonders in Soft Suede and used my aqua brush and Stampin' markers to pick up colour from my art palette for the colouring, (except for Rococo Rose, as I don't have the marker, so swiped the ink pad onto my palette). As you know Soft Suede is a water based ink, so I had to be a little more careful with my colouring and now and then it bled a little but I didn't mind for this:
Crumb Cake - Happy Birthday words (also from New Wonders stamp set)
Daffodil Delight - Hair
Merry Merlot - Mat and Hearts
Mossy Meadow - Leaves
Night of Navy - Dress and Wings
Pear Pizzazz - Leaves
Rococo Rose - Paper
The weather here is quite chilly so I chose to take my photo at ground level with my fairly permanent log fire monitor - Simba. You don't see too many photos of him, he's a fiery ginger with health issues and a short fuse - it's his way or the highway! A two strike cat - first a warning and then the strike, so I didn't mess too much, and he was sure to keep an eye on the proceedings. Don't be too alarmed, when all is well in his world he has the loudest purr and we love him dearly.
I've masked the little lady to do the stamping in Crumb Cake, stamping three times after inking to give dimension. Finished off with a little bit of Wink of Stella on the wings and hearts, bit hard for you to see though.
This hostess set is so full of cute images and versatile greetings - a winner in my book and I think it will see a lot of use from me.
Love to see what you come up with using this colour palette. Post it to our Facebook page using the link over to the right. Before you go, please stop over at Tina's pretty floral card and be sure to keep on hopping - the crew have a fabulous variety to share with you.
This week you don't have to think too much - open your catalogue to page 36 and CASE any layout!
I've chosen the card towards the middle with the large magnolia flower on it.
I've swapped out the large flower for a portion of the Butterfly Beauty dies, I've cut the top layer from Gorgeous Grape and layered it onto one cut from So Saffron, then trimmed a few of the butterflies off. I've stamped around the edge of vellum cardstock with an image from Beauty Abounds in Memento Black ink and just to be on the safe side, heat set it. On the reverse I used Gorgeous Grape, Mossy Meadow and So Saffron Stampin' markers to colour the images.
Initially I was going to mount the vellum directly onto the Mossy Meadow base, but I felt the colours didn't pop as much so backed it with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut slightly smaller than the vellum. This was all adhered to the Mossy Meadow base. The butterflies have been raised with Stampin' Dimensionals and the greeting from Painted Glass was stamped onto Whisper White using Mossy Meadow ink then punched out with the Tailored Tag punch and glued in place.
I hope you get the chance to play along with us this week. Time now to pop over and check out the lovely Rose's cheery card!
